Data hosting
According to its security FAQ, Granola stores all data on AWS in the United States and offers no EU residency "at this time". Its DPA incorporates the EU and UK Standard Contractual Clauses. Recapro Cloud: data at rest in France at Scaleway (Postgres and object storage, fr-par region); in transit, Cloudflare terminates TLS.
Health data
Granola is HIPAA compliant and signs a BAA for Enterprise customers. It publishes no HDS certification (not documented as of October 16, 2026). Recapro does not hold HDS certification either. Its architecture is HDS-ready, and Forteresse On-Premise keeps the data on your servers.
Model training
On the Free and Business plans, Granola may use anonymised data by default to improve its own models; each user can opt out in settings, and the Enterprise plan allows an organisation-wide opt-out. Recapro trains no model on your data.
On-Premise deployment
Granola's security FAQ says a private cloud version is not offered at the moment. Recapro offers Forteresse On-Premise at €19.90/seat/month, 10 seats minimum (€199/month), hardware extra from €4,990.
Audio retention
Granola deletes the audio once transcription is complete and keeps the transcript and notes. Recapro keeps the audio, replayable from the summary, with speaker diarization.

Yes. According to its pricing page, Granola offers apps for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android and Apple Watch. Recapro runs on mobile, on desktop and in the browser. The two tools differ mainly on hosting and deployment.

Not at the moment. Its security FAQ states that all data is stored on AWS in the United States and that no EU, UK or other regional residency is offered "at this time". Is Granola GDPR compliant?
Granola states that it complies with the GDPR and the UK GDPR. It has a UK entity (Granola Labs Ltd) and offers a DPA that incorporates the EU and UK Standard Contractual Clauses. Its data remains stored on AWS in the United States. Recapro keeps data at rest in France, or on your servers with On-Premise.

Does Granola train its AI on my notes?
On the Free and Business plans, Granola may use anonymised data by default to improve its own models. Each user can opt out under Settings, Preferences, Data & sharing; on Enterprise, the opt-out can cover the whole organisation. Granola states that its third-party AI providers are not allowed to train their models on this data. Recapro trains no model on your data, with no setting to change.

Yes. According to its security FAQ, Granola notes are private by default on every plan. Sharing has three levels: private, company, or anyone with the link.
